Sunday, October 14th, 2012 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Busses will depart from CBI for Race for the Cure. We will be back in time for Religious School pick up at 12:30 p.m. If you haven’t done so already, please register for the walk on line at www.komenphoenix.org. Be sure to register under the name Team CBI.
Sunday, November 18th, 10am – 12:30pm Supermarket Spree. Students will divide into two teams and station themselves in front of two near-by grocery stores. We will hand out flyers to shoppers as they enter the store, encouraging them to buy one of the items on a list of food and dry goods needed by ICM (Interfaith Cooperative Ministries). On the way out of the store shoppers will drop their items into our bins. Last year the Hineini class collected close to 1,000 lbs of food and dry goods for ICM and hada great time too.
Sunday, December 16th, 10am – 12:30pm Kivel Campus of Care. Students will visit with the residents at Kivel, a Jewish home for the elderly. We will spend the morning playing games, sharing stories, and even singing some songs with Kivel residents.

Hineini means "Here I Am!"
In the Torah, important people like Abraham say Hineini in response to a call from God. In that context it means, "Here I am, ready to serve You!" or, "You can count on me!" It is in the spirit of the Torah's meaning of the word Hineini that we named this program. Each month students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community service projects with other members of their 7th grade Beth Israel community.

Sunday, January 13th, 5pm – 8:00pm Movie Night and Clothing Drive. Students will meet at CBI for pizza dinner, and a movie. We will also clean out our closets and bring in any lightly used clothing to donate to ICM. We will be watching and discussing the movie “Driving Miss Daisy”.
Sunday, February 10th, 10am -12:30pm Mezzuzah Making. Students will learn how to make their very own glass mezzuzot. We will also learn about the mitzvah of having a mezzuzah on your door and what makes a mezzuzah “kosher”. Last year the Hineini class made the most beautiful mezzuzot and I’m sure that this year they will be equally as gorgeous!
Saturday, March 3rd Volunteer Day at Interfaith Cooperative Ministries (ICM). Hineini students will visit ICM and help stock the shelves with food, sort through clothing, and learn about the working poor and the homeless.
Sunday, April 7th, 3pm – 5:00pm Yom Hashoah Services. Students will attend services at CBI.
