Cantor Jaime Shpall was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where she took full advantage off all that the big Jewish Community there had to offer. As a young girl she attended Emek Hebrew Acadamy, an Orthodox Jewish day school in North Hollywood and regularly attended Shabbat services at her family's synagogue, Adat Ari El. It was in these two settings that she fell in love with "davening".  Her love of Judaism grew through summers as a camper and staffer at Camp Ramah, attendance at the Los Angeles Hebrew High School, Youth Group, and trips to Israel. She attended The University of California at Santa Cruz and spent her Jr. year in Israel at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. During her college years Jaime taught Hebrew and Religious studies at many of the San Francisco Bay Area synagogues and worked on the staff of Camp Swig in Saratoga, California. It was at camp that she decided to attend The Hebrew Union College, School of Sacred Music which turned out to be a perfect fit. The combination of music, psychology, and Judaic studies seemed to lead her directly to the cantorate.

Upon her graduation from HUC, Cantor Shpall served as the cantor of Congregation Beth Israel in Austin, Texas for eight years where she developed her cantorial "chops". Prior to moving to Arizona, Cantor Shpall and her husband, Marcel Bergmann, lived in La Serena, Chile where he worked as an astronomer for Gemini Observatories. Living in Chile was a wonderful experience for them, but she and her husband are thrilled to be here in Scottsdale serving such a vibrant synagogue as Congregation Beth Israel. They are proud parents of twins Samuel and Ella.
